Poetics of Resistance
Talking
How can art be resistant in times when critique is constantly absorbed, neutralized, or repressed? How can artistic action offer resistance and not just its representation? And how does it resist outside conventional political opposition– and close to life? Talking Poetics of Resistance is a monthly reading and discussion group dedicated to exploring artistic and theoretical positions that unfold between aesthetics and life. We'll read and hear positions about the emergence of political agency and the possibilities of political aesthetics and poetics, within and at the margins of artistic practice. We are interested in gestures that open political resonances without turning into brands, through complexity and the movement of encounters. Artistic languages that are rather metaphorical than didactic; subtle, precise, and sometimes humorous interventions that shift perception and create new possibilities.

Each evening combines collective reading, focused discussion, and the presentation of an artistic example. We begin by situating a selected text within broader debates on resistance and aesthetics. Together, we read key passages, mark questions, and discuss the main arguments before relating them to concrete artistic practices. Central questions guide us throughout the meetings: What makes a practice resistant? How does the aesthetic or poetic form operate politically? Where do we locate poetics of resistance today?

If you'd like to join the discussion group, please write in advance to talking@poetics-of-resistance.net.
